Åland hunting and fishing museum is situated in Käringsunds fiskeläge in Eckerö. Our museum is easy to find by car, bus, bicycle or by foot.
If you arrive to port Berghamn from Sweden you can walk to the museum through a pleasant path along the shoreline. The path is approximately 800 meters long.
If you are coming from Mariehamn, simply follow road 1 by car, or the marked cycling roads towards Eckerö by bicycle. The distance between Käringsund and Mariehamn is about 35 kilometers.
Buses travel from Mariehamn to Eckerö many times a day. The timetables are available here.

Visitors with wheelchairs: The museum is suitable for persons in wheelchairs. There are ramps both inside and outside, and a toilet accessible with a wheelchair. There is enough space to move around in the whole museum with a wheelchair. We don't have automatic door openers, but there is a doorbell you can ring and the staff will open the door for you.
Visitors with small children: Strollers can be pushed to the museum from the ramp and the whole museum is accessible with a stroller. There is also a stroller you can loan if your child gets exhausted or tired. A toilet is equipped with a care table and a potty.
Allergies: The museum has plenty of stuffed animals. The animals, furs and dust can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people.
Dogs and pets: Pets ar not permitted inside the museum. Guide dogs are of course permitted.
Good to know
Åland hunting and fishing museum does not have it's own cafeteria, but there are plenty of pleasant restaurants and cafeterias around Käringsund.
You can eat your own packed lunch in the museum's inner yard or on the comfy front steps, with a view over the Fiskeläge and the Sea of Åland.
Bus drivers, assistants and authorized guides have free entry to the museum.
Ålands hunting and fishing museum is open during the summer, from the middle of May to the end of August. Outside of our opening hours we can book groups of atleast 10 people. You can book your group easily on the phone from Monday to Friday 10-15.00 atleast three days in advance.
